would make them happy. what you can afford .
What you buy or what some one else buy's you will have all this factored in.

Cell Phone Radiation : A few Tips To Protection

Cell Phones emit pulsed  digital radio frequency  ( R F )  microwave radiation  that  penetrates  our bodies . This radio frequency  ( R F )  radiation  which is produced  by Cell  phones is  the same type  of energy that is  generated by microwave  ovens . Cell  phones have  never undergone pre - market safely  testing  or been properly scrutinized  since being  introduced . Our children  are now  being exposed over a life time..

In 2011  the World Health Organization ( WHO ) classified cell phone  radiation as "  possibly  carcinogenic to humans". All  wireless radio frequency  transmissions as emitted by cell phones ,  cell towers , cordless phones  , Wi-Fi  and the like  are now  considered  as a possible  causing agent.

The Cell Phone industry has obscured  the facts  about RF  radiation  through lobbying  and manipulating public opinion  through its own  biased research. The studies  revealed that  cell phone radiation  is not only dangerous but potentially lethal Cell phones have only been used in such high volume  for a few years , the long time effects are worrying. The Bio Initiative report 2012 references thousands  of independent studies.

There is  plethora   of research  linking cell  phone radiation   and  similar   wireless  exposures   to a long  list  of  illness  and  diseases ,  heart attacks ,  brain  tumors  , cancer , DNA  damage  , arthritis, rheumatism, lymphatic diseases ,  vaginal discharge  , leukemia , memory loss , depression   , miscarriage  , infertility , sterility .

How to Protect Yourself
1. Don't allow children  to use  a cell phone  for calling and playing .
2. Limit calls to those  that they are absolutely necessary .
3. When dialing out don't put your cell phone next to your ear until  yours correspondence  has picked up the communication.
4. Avoid carrying your cell phone directly on your body.
5. Avoid making calls with a low signal as your cell phone will generate more radiation in an effect  to compensate  for it.
6. Avoid  using cell phone while driving your car.
7. Keep your cell phone away  during sleeping time at least 2 meters away .

If you look past, the industry  funded studies , it's clear  that cell phone radiation  is not only dangerous  but potentially lethal . Cell phones  have only  been used  in such high   volume  for a few years , the long term  effects are worrying . Besides  the industry  funded  research  there is plethora  of well - researched  documents  highlighting  illness caused by microwave  RF radiation. The Bio Initiative  report 2012 is a lengthy  report which contains lot of important chapters to   be described in nut shell later.

PETITION TO HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSION - INDIA

A  petition  was given  to  Human Rights Commission  as we felt that  mobile towers  near residence is a serious human rights issue  since we have right  to live peaceably and no one  has the right  to engage in activities that can directly  or indirectly affect our physical health. It is also to create awareness , help people and request  Govt. to have norms which take care  of safety  of human beings and environment.
Human Rights Commission considered the petition  and took necessary actions . The  concerned were given orders to bring down the radiation levels  to a safe value. The tower operator in turn  has given a petition  that they follow  the existing norms in the country !
There are many problems  in the system which make the  people living near towers helpless. With the existing norms , no  legal case  even in the case  of  many illegally installed  towers  against the industry can win.  Govt  bodies like municipalities , panchatyats , district boards are silent  for their illegal act , no demolition proceedings  rarely been done when complaints are made . 
Telecom Enforcement   Resource and Monitoring  Cells - TERM  Cells are responsible  for vigilance , monitoring and security functions. In West Bengal , the  TERM  cell  office is in Kolkata . They visited   my house , heard  my problems  and took measurements . TERM CELL , the monitoring authority  came   with their  sophisticated instrument  to  measure the radiation in my  bed rooms, roof areas  in my presence  & others , they  measured  in neighboring building also .
After a week a letter with self certification by  TERM Cell  received  stating that there is no risk  of radiation in my  rooms  which is within the permissible limit as per the standard adopted in India
is 450 mwatts /m2 and the measurement value being lower , they certify that there is no problem. Regarding  health problem  & developing of Cataract , joint pain  etc. they  answered  it has to be certified  by a  doctor . But 99 % doctors are not aware  of such problem.
Present norms  adopted by DOT  does safeguard  human beings , Radiation  density limit of
450 mwatts /m2  is 4500  times more than the safe limit of 100 microwatts /m2.
Maximum radiated power  from a tower is not specified . Radiated  power is 20 watts to hundreds of watts depending  on the  number  of service  providers  and  number  of carrier  frequency bands allotted  to each . The continuous radiation to nearby residents is much more  than safe limit.
Some States like Himachal Pradesh  of India have their own  rules regarding  safe distance   from residences . Most States in India , West Bengal  all metro cities  does not have any Rules even Govt . Bodies and TERM cell do not have exact  number of Cell Towers exists in India !

Coconut  trees in close proximity  of cell tower after a certain height gets affected  as the leaves and its fruits are at the top only. The leaves are crippled and the fruits are spotted on its body and the trees die , premature fruits start to fall . There are similar trees are there seen to be affected . During last few years Coconut trees in villages  having Cell Towers  found  to  produce defective green coconuts of irregular shape with spots which are  being sold  in the market .

A tower  is an  open microwave oven.  Microwave radiations from  mobile towers are harmful to human health. There are short term effects and long term effects . All are not equally susceptible to radiations. But most  people will be affected after many years of continuous exposure . Temperature rise , increase  in the incidence  of cancer , reduction in immunity  and  resultant infectious diseases, premature  aging , decrease  in birds  and bees  are the result  of the microwave radiations. The dish antennas  for tower to tower  communication  can be replaced  with a  fiber  optic link. The effect of dish antennas , side lobes  etc, should  be studied.
It is a human rights  violation to install mobile  towers near schools , hospitals , and residential  areas and  increase power transmitted as they wish. It should  be at a safe distance and  consent  from neighbors should be obtained .
Total transmitted  power  from towers  should be such that nearest  residence radiation density  is less than 100 uW/m2.
Shielding is an effective  technique to reduce radiation inside house. There are lot of  products in the market .  The genuine  ones have to be located  and cost  effective ones should be developed. With combined research  with  industry , it may be possible  to put shields in the tower  itself to protect nearby  residents from harmful effects.

PROTECTION FROM CELL PHONE RADIATION

         !!  Caution  to all   !!

Mobile phone is to be used  with  great care to safeguard the health of user . Get phones with less SAR  value .  Do not  allow children  to use  a cell phone  for  calling . Even when it is not used , it is continuously communicating  with the nearby tower and hence  radiating.

Make phone  calls  that are absolutely necessary  and use  speaker phone  as much as possible. Put your phone near the ear only after  two seconds  of accepting a call.

Avoid  carrying  your phone  directly on your body . Use your phone only on conditions of optimum reception. The signal  strength is boosted  up automatically  and you get more radiation . Do not use phone  in a  moving vehicle or in a vehicle. Do not keep the  phone  in the bed room .

Make sure  your immune  system is in good shape .

Eat  organic  food. Drink  clean water . Get  regular exercise . Use non toxic cleaners  in our home and body.

PERMISSION FOR ERECTING CELL TOWERS - INDIA

Cell Operators activities in India  -
The respective Municipal Corporation , District boards , Gram  Panchayat  gives permission  for erection of  mobile towers  on land  and  roof terrace of buildings  and they consider the structural safety of the tower. In India 50% cell towers are illegal . The correct figure of cell tower records are not avail with  municipal corporation. The officials of municipality seldom visit to check the structural  safety only. In many metro cities of India  in connivance of  land lord of the  building  /  promoters of ownership flats -  with the   cell operators  make an 3 - 5 yrs.agreement with deposit of 5 lacs  and  having understanding with local goons , local police , politicians etc  with out informing , & without taking permission  install cell towers with monthly rental of 40k - 50 k to landlord / flat owner committee earns. The rent amount is fixed   depending on the number of tower and roof area . The staircase of the premises goes under the control  of cell operators . In such illegal act Corporation  and other Govt. bodies loose the  revenue from the cell operators. By this cell towers are mushroomed in densely populated  areas violating  ICNIRP  guide lines. The Term Cell  under DoT close their eyes for such act of cell operators nationwide. License for transmission, permission for sharing tower  by many service providers . license for new technologies  etc. are  given by DOT . A single agency   should  give permission  for erecting  towers , considering the  safety  of people.  But a single tower is shared by many service providers with  many antennas of circular and tube light type which  is not  known to  permission giver DOT. The Idea , Airtel , Viom officials also  visits and tells that the radiations are  not harmful. There should be norms regarding distance to residences , schools , hospitals etc from antenna, height  at which antennas  are fixed  and total power  transmitted from a tower.  DOT  and  industry   should accept  the fact that problem  exists  and try to solve the problem.
In my recent  visit  in USA - it is noticed that  cell towers are not found on roof tops except down town areas  to cater the service  for the high rise office buildings only . Most  mobile towers are installed  enclosed  with   iron fenced in   nature  big park , in open area   with 180 - 200 ft. ht. from ground , also seen over hills & forest on  high ways away from human lives . Camouflaged mobile towers also seen like cocoanut trees. The ICNIRP guide lines are strictly followed in USA  , if violation of guide lines ,there are  public to sue case against  mobile tower companies  with penalty and subsequent  removal.  A picture of  Mobile Tower in USA -

Effect of Shielding

Our Sleep pattern became normal and we get  sound sleep. We  feel healthier . We took Kaviraji & Aurvedic  treatment  for dryness  in the eyes  and homeopathy for  joint pains .
Sleep disorder and dryness  in eye  reappear  when I spend  a few hours  outside home.
Shielding in walls with wall paper  , curtain for windows  are available but very costly to afford  which gets reduced the signal of call. By this the Mobile Phones boosts the signal  level and establishes  communication with the tower at a higher level , it is better to go out  and make the call. Even if communication is carried out  at a higher level , it is better from a health point of view as the call time is small in a 24 hour day. It was tested the signal strength in the EMI chamber to assess the suitability of mobile phone for instrumentation . It was 660 microwatts /m2 , -20dbm, for sending and receiving. The raised signal  strength  was because of the shielded EMI cabin.

Eliminate Radition Sources within the House

To reduce radiation within the house  , wifi and cordless phone  were replaced  with wired connections , disabled  wifi in laptops and decided  not to use  Bluetooth, wireless toys  and microwave oven . We also decided  to avoid high radiation  areas like the terrace.
I grew more plants in my house  like plantain and terrace with new pot plants with vegetables and flowers  etc as they absorb radiation and  block  radiation. Walking   barefoot  effectively grounds the radiation absorbed  by the body. We try to increase  immunity  level by healthy food. ( organically grown vegetables , gooseberry  with honey ).

Inferences from MEASUREMENT at my Residence.

Our homes are not safe  because of Wi-Fi, laptops with wi-fi enabled , I-Pad , cordless phones . wireless toys , mobile phones , microwave oven etc.  Their contribution  can be even  greater  than that due to  towers ! Radiation  from towers  increases with  altitude  and the first floor  rooms facing  the tower  showed 10 times  higher value  than ground floor rooms.  The terrace showed 100 times  increases. The radiation  density  reduces  with distance  from the tower.  Concrete  walls block  radiation  to a limited  extent.  Trees absorb  radiation . There were a few trees  in and around our house except  one side facing one  tower.  I was certain that our bodies are affected  by microwave radiations.
I was difficult to convince my friends & family members , but they  supported  me. I felt helpless on what to do . I prayed and put my burden on almighty god to save us. Having such health hazards finding no other alternative  I decided to give a petition to Chair Person  of Human Rights Commission .

Biased Studies

More than half of the publications in the internet  report that there is no problem  due to mobile towers and mobile phones. These are from the industry itself. Lot of publications  gave alarming  reports. Problems reported in literature  as biological  effects of radiation  are  :  Sleeping disorder, Joint pain  , dryness & flashing of eyes , Memory related problems , Fertility problems  , cancer , reduction in immunity level and  possibility of infections , diseases and  quality of life.
International standards exists  in erecting Mobile Phone Towers and standards  also have guidelines for accepted power  levels. Distance from  residences , schools , hospitals etc  are specified separately.  India  has adopted ICNIRP ( International  Commission on  Non - ionizing  Radiation Protection )  standards. ICNIRP  followed in the  US and  EU  is the worst amongst  the standards. Maximum power level as per ICNIRP  is 9.2 watts / m2. ICNIRP is only intended  to protect public against short term gross  heating effects  and NOT against ' biological ' effects   such as reducing immunity  level leading to infections  to cancer  and genetic damage  from long term low level microwave exposure  from mobile phones , masts and many wireless devices . But biological damage occurs at much lower rates. In a study conducted in Germany safe power density at any point  is given as  less than 100  microwatts / m2 . EU  parliament  ( STOA 2001 ) recommends  - 100uW/m2. Russia has adopted .02 w/m2 and China  .1 w/m2. They are considering  to reduce further .  DoT has reduced the safe radiation level as 450 milli watts / m2 after September 2013 considering the safety of people . But it is 4500 times more than the safe value !
Radiation density is inversely proportional  to the square of distance from antenna. In US  the safe distance  is 500 meters. In India , only Himachal Pradesh has specified the distance  as 100 meters away from homes.  Kerala , West Bengal , Delhi , Mumbai , Odisha, Andhra Pradesh  etc.  does not have any specification on distance  and a distance of 3 meters  is taken  based on existing rules  for installing electric posts ! Measurement is the only way to find out  radiation density at a place. The value can be the effect  of all the towers  nearby. A good radiation meter SRM 3000 used by industry  costs Rs Fifteen lakhs. It is a compact , frequency selective measuring system for safely analysis and environmental measurements of high frequency electromagnetic fields. It has wide band antenna covering  9 KHz to 6 GHz. and  provides  radiation  level  at selected  frequency spectrum . Prof  Girish Kumar , IIT Mumbai has developed   a low cost radiation meter  Detex189  which has LED indication  , green  for safe  level - 15dbm level. With the help of VSSC , we made  measurements . The effect of Wi-Fi , Laptop , micro oven were also  studied.

Health Hazards due to Radiation from Mobile Towers & Mobile Phones

Mobile Towers , Mobile Phones , Our Health  -  A Story of India.

Mobile Phone Technology has revolutionized the telecommunication scenario all round the  world.  Nowadays mobile phones  have become  one of the basic  needs of  life . Due to its several advantages  , cell phone technology  has grown  exponentially  in  the last decade . Currently , there are  more than  50 crore  cell phone users  and nearly  4.5 lakhs  cell phone towers  to meet the  communication demand.
Mobile communication uses  Electromagnetic Radiation  waves  in 800 Mhz to 2.4 Ghz band and  mobile  towers are the part of the  technology.  These towers  are now present  in everyone's horizon of view  even in thickly  populated  areas , schools and  hospitals. Since  human senses do not directly  respond to EMR  waves  we are not conscious  that we are drenched  in them. However  it is borne  out by scientific research that  mobile phone towers  are hazardous  to health of human  beings, plants and animals. Towers  emit 10000  times the radiation  of a mobile phone. The problem is severe as  a tower emits  all the time and many service  provider  use the same tower.  Therefore  the towers should not be located  in residential area  on roof tops  of residential buildings.
I entered this field  of  technology  out of necessity  to know the effect on  health.  There are  two mobile towers  within   20 meters of my residence  and one more 100 meters away. The nearest one is used  by three service providers.  GSM  and 3G  technologies  are used. 3G  was introduced in June 2011.
When  my two neighbors  of close proximity of Mobile Tower  within the distance of 20 mtrs. &  30 mtrs. an aged woman of 70 yrs having cardiac & neurological  probs & another  man  of 72 yrs having  pacemaker  suddenly  expired  & myself  improved cataract in my eyes  sleep disorder  & loss of memory  which I developed  after the  Mobile towers  being installed , my wife developed flashes in her eyes & dryness in the eyes and joint pain  Sent request to  Term Cell  of DoT  , they with instrument & checked the radiation levels in all the floors of  4 storied Building  & neighboring  buildings  , later sent me  a report  which showed  every thing within the limit. I discussed  with Prof. Girish Kumar , he suggested me to relocate  my  room of stay , I did it , after a month  I started to feel  better   .  The above 3 incidents took place in 2012 , 2013  & 2013 respectively . I purchased DETEX 189 from Mumbai which is a portable measuring instrument of Radiation  .  There  are two coconut trees  near the Mobile tower in the same premises  were stunted  with  malformed  leaves  stopped yielding green coconuts & my terrace had a small garden with pot plants that also started not to  yield flowers, we seldom  visit our roof terrace. We had a series of  physical probs. since Jan2013 in spite of  a healthy life style  using plenty of water , fruits, vegetables . The report  from Prof. Girish kumar  revealed that our frequent problem  can be due to  reduction of immunity level  due to continuous  radiation from mobile towers. We get annoyed due to sleep disorder  similar to jetlag with sleepless nights . An increase in BP was  also seen. 
USA Mobile Tower legislation is very strong which is safe to the public health.

Cell Phone Service of BSNL Disrupted

No Network Coverage  in spite of having  poor & weak signal in cell phones of customers of BSNL !!

The Nationalized organisation does not agree of mass complaints for weak signal. The  authority is  complaining that due to mass  Public complaints for health Hazards  from radiations emitted from antennas of cell towers in Residential areas  and there by many Towers are closed by the protest of local residents . A section of Public is responsible  for their protest  to remove cell towers from their locality with a fear of EMF. Due to mass public protest within last one year at least 20 Cell Towers of BSNL has been closed down near Minto Park , near S. N Banerjee College of Sealdah.
Arround 3 lacs  customers has become victim of not having the Cell phone connections.
In one side the Cell Tower companies,  other side the Experts & Public has built up the probability of   harmful effects from its EMR.  As per guide lines of ICNIRP the highest radiation per square meter for different frequencies  ( 800, 900 or 1800 megahertz)  spectrum should be 1/200 th. times or  in the case of 1800 megahertz spectrum the limit of power is 9 w /sqm. But the Govt. in the last year on 1st Sept. has reduced the power by 1/2000 th  that means in our country the level of power has come down to 1/10 th . there by reducing to   0.9 w/ sqm.  The same will be applicable to different spectrum  also . In case there are more antennas in one cell tower the total power  will be 0.9 w / sqm. 

Health risk from Wi-Fi devices rising

Dear Viewers , Thanks for going through my Blog , I am sorry not to post any new information on Cell  Phone / Tower issues due to personal reasons .  I am presently in USA  for a short visit .

Health risks from  mobile wireless  devices  like phones and tablets  are growing stronger  and  requires  immediate action as per reports from experts & researchers. According to the Bio Initiative Working Group , which released  a mid - year  update  covering  new science  studies  from 2012 to 2014, new   studies intensify  medical concerns about  malignant brain tumors from cell phone use .
" There is a consistent pattern  of increased  risk  for  glioma ( a malignant  brain tumor )  and acoustic  neuroma  with use of mobile and cordless phones ", said  Lennart Hardell from Orebro University , Sweden. " Epidemiological evidence  shows  that  radio frequency  should be classified  as a know human carcinogen . The existing FCC / IEEE  and ICNIRP  public safety  limits are not adequate to protect  public health "  Hardell said.
The Bio initiative  reports  nervous system effects  in 68% of studies  on radio frequency radiation ( 144  of 211studies) in 2014. This has increased from  63% in 2012 ( 93  of  150 studies ). Studies  of extremely  - low frequency  radiation are reported  to cause nervous system effects in 90% of the 105 studies  available  in 2014.
Genetic effects  ( damage to  DNA )  from radio frequency  radiation is  reported in 65% ( 74  of 114 studies ) ,  and 83% ( 49 of 59 studies ) of extremely  low frequency studies. Wire less  devices like phones and  tablets are big sources of un necessary  biological stress  to the mind and body that can chip away  at resilience over time. the report warns against  wireless in schools . Schools should  provide internet access without Wi-Fi .
